By Buffalo Exchange Portland (Hawthorne)
Cheryl has lived in Portland for 42 years and loves to come shopping at Buffalo Exchange with her husband, Jim.
How long have you been shopping at Buffalo?
Oh man, I actually watched you guys open up, so however many years that is. Since day one. I remember I’d seen one in San Francisco, though I hadn’t shopped there, so I was excited when I saw this place opening in Portland.
What do you love about shopping at Buffalo?
It’s the fact that there’s so much variety. I like this store because it’s very my era – very 60s, 70s. No matter what, you can always find what you want here. What I love about Buffalo is that I can find what I want, but I can bring my daughter here too. It’s so diverse. There’s a lot of nostalgia here too. I saw a Bon Jovi shirt here with my daughter and we reminisced about how she dragged me to a Bon Jovi concert when she was a kid. And, you know, you can’t get so much for such a good deal anywhere else.
What are you looking to add to your wardrobe right now?
I’m always looking for 70s clothing. Right now, I’m looking for thin printed skirts. (In fact, she found a skirt to buy today!)
What has been your best Buffalo find?
Erin [my daughter] and I found a Char bag once. They’re very collectible.
How would you describe your personal style?
Very eclectic. I definitely don’t wear clothes a 65-year-old would wear. I like clothes from the 60s and 70s, especially the 70s. I like to be comfortable.
Where do you get style inspiration from?
It’s just my own style. And my sister was a fashion designer. From India too. I love Indian things, because I’ve traveled so much.
Do you have any style advice?
Don’t limit yourself. If you enjoy it, don’t ask, “Is this too young for me?” Just wear it.
